清華大學材料科學與工程研究院《材料科學論壇》學術報告

報告時間:2025年4月16日上午10:00

報告人:Prof. Dragan Damjanovic(Institute of Materials, Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland)

報告地點:清華大學逸夫技術科學樓A205學術報告廳

邀請人:王轲老師

報告題目:Strategies for enhancing electrostrain in perovskite oxides 增強鈣钛礦氧化物中電緻應變的策略

報告簡介:

For over twenty years, researchers have been investigating intensively lead-free alternatives to Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT). Many materials have been proposed, and some of these developments have proven successful in specific applications. However, no commercially available compositions have yet been able to compete effectively with soft PZT in actuator applications. This presentation will focus on actuator applications and examine various contributions to electrostrain, particularly piezoelectric-like effects. These include intrinsic lattice effects, domain wall motion, and morphotropic phase boundaries. Special emphasis will be placed on the latest developments, especially the contributions to electrostrain from defects. Recent findings will be critically reviewed, with comparisons drawn between the performance of new materials and PZT. Finally, the practical implications of these advancements will be discussed.

報告人簡介:

Dragan Damjanovic earned a BSc diploma in Physics from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Sarajevo in 1980 and a PhD in Ceramics Science from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, Pennsylvania State University (PSU) in 1987. From 1988 to 1991, he worked as a research associate at the Materials Research Laboratory at PSU. In 1991, he joined the Ceramics Laboratory in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). During his time there, he led the Group for Ferroelectrics and Functional Oxides at the Institute of Materials, and taught undergraduate and graduate courses on the structure and electrical properties of materials. His research focused on fundamental and applied investigations of the piezoelectric, ferroelectric, and dielectric properties of a wide range of materials. He retired from EPFL in March 2022.
