報告簡介:

Structural, electrical and magnetic properties of Bi, Pb-3d transition metal perovskite oxides stabilized by high-pressure synthesis at several GPa are discussed. Stereochemical 6s2 lone pairs of Bi3+ and Pb2+ induce polar distortions. 6s2 and 6s0 (Bi5+ and Pb4+) charge degree of freedom enables intermetallic charge transfer transition. These are coupled with magnetism of transition metals resulting in various functionalities. In particular, magnetization reversal by electric field and polarization rotation in BiFe1-xCoxO3, negative thermal expansion in modified BiNiO3 and PbVO3 and systematic charge distribution change in PbMO3 (M: 3d transition metal) are highlighted.


報告人簡介:

After bachelor and master degrees, Masaki AZUMA obtained a PhD in chemistry from Kyoto University in 1995. From 1995 to 2010, he was assistant and associate professors at Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University and from 2010 he is a professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology which is now Institute of Science Tokyo. He is also a project leader at Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology. His interests are related to synthesis, structural analysis and functional properties of advanced oxide materials.
