離子束與固體的作用及材料改性、計算材料科學、薄膜材料、核材料等。


先後獲得過10多項國家自然科學基金的重點和面上項目、“863”高科技和“973”國家重點基礎研究項目的科研經費。在國際合作研究中,還得到國際原子能機構、美國通用汽車公司和聯合技術公司的經費資助等。在Science Citation Index(SCI)收錄的期刊上發表論文420多篇,其中包括在Physics Reports; Advances in Physics; Materials Science and Engineering: Reports等期刊上發表的7篇綜述性論文。

率先提出多層膜離子束混合在二元金屬系統中形成非晶态合金(金屬玻璃)的經驗規則和熱力學模型。首創用離子束方法研究固體薄膜中的分形生長,并用分數維數來表征固體相變的行為。提出金屬多層膜中發生固态非晶化反應的熱力學和動力學的判據,并用分子動力學方法揭示其原子運動機制。闡明離子注入形成金屬氮化物的規律。發展出強流金屬離子注入制備金屬矽化物的新技術。用電子輻照為快中子堆的結構材料提供腫脹數據。構建了物理多尺度的計算與模拟平台,能應用于研究和揭示金屬材料科學問題的宏觀與微觀尺度上的機理。用第一性原理計算亞穩合金相的穩定性、磁學性能、并發展和完善了第一性原理計算輔助構建多體勢的方法。率先建立了能預言二元金屬玻璃形成的原子尺度理論。
